Gain the technical skills and hands-on experience necessary to excel in the manufacturing and service sectors of engineering technology.
When you study Mechanical Engineering Technology at CVCC, you’ll master the fundamentals of mechanics, apply engineering principles to real-world systems, and learn key techniques in design, testing, and troubleshooting. Your coursework will cover subjects such as mathematics, natural sciences, engineering sciences, and technology, all aimed at preparing you for a successful career in mechanical engineering.
Students will gain an understanding of basic engineering principles and technical skills needed to design, develop, test, and troubleshoot projects involving mechanical systems. The curriculum covers principles of mechanics, applications to specific engineering systems, design testing procedures, prototype and operational testing and inspection procedures, manufacturing system testing procedures, test equipment operation and maintenance, computer applications, critical thinking, planning, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills to prepare students for the ever-evolving engineering landscape.
Graduates of this program will be prepared for roles in the manufacturing or service sectors, qualifying for positions such as engineering technicians, process improvement technicians, technical service providers, and industrial or technology managers. Engineering technicians may obtain professional certification by application to organizations such as ASQC, SME, and NICET.

Comprehensive Articulation Agreement
The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) allows a student who earns the Associate degree with no grade lower than a “C” to be guaranteed admission to at least one of the UNC system schools as a Junior ;and make a smooth transition for maximum credit transfer.
Some Associate in Applied Science degrees may transfer in full or in part to a four-year school. CVCC has agreements with certain schools to accept the AAS degree in a 2 + 2 arrangement (subject to change).

- As always, it is imperative that a student at CVCC should be in full conversation with the senior school before selecting and completing a program of study at CVCC.
