Transfer Credit
Transfer credits are awarded after an evaluation of accredited institution, military training, or foreign institution transcripts have been received.
Transcript Evaluations
CVCC evaluates transcripts for possible transfer credit upon receipt of ALL official college transcripts. Although it does not normally take this long, CVCC has one semester from receipt of the final official college transcript to complete the evaluation.
CVCC will grant transfer credit for a course completed at a regionally accredited institution provided:
- The coursework is relevant to the student's program of study,
- The competencies required for successful completion are at least equivalent to those required for successful completion of the equivalent CVCC course, and
- The final grade received as evidenced by an official transcript was a C-minus or better.
CVCC will grant transfer credit for coursework and/or training completed during military service based on ACE recommendations provided:
- The coursework is relevant to the student's program of study,
- The competencies required for successful completion are at least equivalent to those required for successful completion of the equivalent CVCC course, and
- An official military transcript is received.
CVCC will grant transfer credit for a course completed at a foreign (outside the United States) institution provided that:
- The coursework is relevant to the student's program of study,
- The competencies required for successful completion are at least equivalent to those required for successful completion of the equivalent CVCC course, and
- The final grade received as evidenced by an official transcript (that has been evaluated by a current member of NACES) was a C-minus or better. (The name the student is currently using as well as the date of birth must be on the transcript.)
