Q: Will the dates for the 2020 CVCC Commencement Ceremony change?
A: The 2020 Commencement ceremonies originally scheduled for May 8 and May 9, 2020, have been postponed. Plans are to hold these ceremonies on August 1, 2020. Location to be announced. The Campus Store will receive caps and gowns in early July.
Q: Is Thursday, March 26, still a “Flip Day”?
A: Yes, Thursday, March 26 is a flip day. For classes meeting online in a synchronous format, Monday classes are scheduled for Thursday, March 26.
Q: What if I need something from the campus? How do I get it if the campus is closed?
A: CVCC is operating with minimal staff during this time. Email is the best way to communicate. You may also look at the CVCC webpage and social media for up to date information.
Q: I am concerned about my financial aid/scholarship/Veterans Benefits. What can I do?
A: The college is working closely with all government agencies to ensure students are minimally affected by the current situation.
Placement Testing
Q: My placement test was canceled. When can I reschedule?
A: Currently, all testing sessions have been canceled through March 31, 2020. Please check the CVCC website for any updates regarding possible future testing dates and times.
Q: I am an Allied Health candidate and need to take the TEAS test before March 31, 2020 in order to meet the MAR requirement. What are my options?
A: For any 2020 Allied Health candidates who have a deadline of March 31, 2020 and are ready to submit the MAR and need to take the TEAS test, these candidates should submit their MAR as directed by their respective Healthcare packet. TEAS testing may resume on a case by case basis after March 31 for Allied Health candidates; please check the CVCC website for further updates and information.
Q: I have already paid for my TEAS/Individual Proctor test. What are my options?
A: Please keep your receipt for TEAS or individual proctor tests and bring those with you when you reschedule your test.
Q: Can I still schedule and take my Pearson Vue test at CVCC during this time?
A: CVCC has temporarily suspended Pearson Vue testing through March 31, 2020. Please check the CVCC website for further updates and information.
Q: I use CVCC to proctor my online/distance education tests; do I need to reschedule?
A: CVCC is currently suspending all testing through March 31, 2020. Please contact the school where you are currently enrolled for further instructions.

Advising
Q: How do I withdraw from a course?
A: All students who use Financial Aid (FAFSA) need to contact Financial Aid before withdrawing from a course. Email financial_aid@cvcc.edu
Students may send an email to khollar@cvcc.edu stating that you wish to withdraw from a course. Provide the course name and section number. Students will receive an email response with additional information required to withdraw from a course distance.
Q: How do I register for Spring Intersession courses?
A: Students may email advising@cvcc.edu requesting to register for a Spring Intersession course. Payment will be due at the time of registration and students may pay online.

Q: I am a current student. How do I register for Summer courses?
A: All current students will receive an email March 19 with instructions for registration. Students may register through the CVCC Portal Self Service Menu. Select “Search and Register for Courses,” and follow the steps for entering the classes.

Q: How can I access Career Advising Services and resources?
A: CVCC offers two web-based career assessment resources, Career Coach and Focus 2 to help students identify their career interests, explore career information, and learn more about CVCC programs. Q: How do I request to withdraw after the 60 percent point of my class due to an extenuating circumstance?
A: From your CVCC email account, complete the Request to Withdrawal After the 60 Percent Point of the Class form found in your My CVCC Portal account under Student Services/Student Forms. Email the form to khollar@cvcc.edu. Please note that for the Spring 2020 semester only, the request to withdraw after the 60 percent point of the class has been extended to the 80 percent point of the class for extenuating circumstances.
Q: How do I apply for spring and/or summer graduation?
A: From your CVCC email account, email kplumley@cvcc.edu or admissions@cvcc.edu for further instructions on how to complete the Graduation Application from a distance.
Admissions
Q: I submitted an Application. I received a confirmation email stating I have to come to Student Services to activate my application. How do I visit if Student Services is closed?
A: Email admissions@cvcc.edu to request application activation by distance. CVCC will continue an email correspondence with you with next steps.
Q: What if I have issues with my North Carolina Residency classification?
A: Students must work directly with the Residency Office in Raleigh to solve issues. Call toll free: 844-417-0164
Q: I need to apply for the Spring Intersession. How does that work?
A: Submit the application and email admissions@cvcc.edu. In the email, make your course request from the spring schedule. We will connect with you via email so you don’t have to come to campus.
Q: Can I still submit my MAR checklist for a healthcare program with a March 31 deadline?
A: YES! Even if you have not taken the TEAS test, submit the MAR Checklist according to the packet instructions and decisions will be made on a case by case basis.
Q: Are my classes canceled?
A: All courses, regardless of delivery method, are canceled for the week of March 16-22. Please continue to monitor CVCC announcements throughout the week.
Q: Will classes return to normal schedule next week?
A: Due to the progressive nature of COVID-19, we will be moving forward on a week-to-week basis. The goal is transition as soon as possible without causing unnecessary risk to students, faculty, and staff.
Q: What about online classes?
A: Online classes are also canceled this week. It is our intent to continue online classes next week. Additionally, many seated classes are being moved to an online format or alternate format. Faculty are working this week to transition learning materials to an online format. The Blackboard system is available for access but assignments are not due this week.
Q: What about seated classes?
A: All seated classes, where possible, are being moved to an online format. Faculty are working this week to transition learning materials to an online format. However, your class may not be suitable for an online format due to the hands-on nature of the course. The semester will be extended so you will have the opportunity to complete hands-on requirements for those courses that cannot be moved to fully online. You will receive instructions from your faculty member for non-online classes.
Q: I am a CCP or Early College student, are my classes canceled?
A: All courses, regardless of delivery method, are canceled for the week of March 16-22. Please continue to monitor CVCC announcements throughout the week. We are in contact with your high school as we develop a plan to resume instruction. Please monitor communications from your high school and CVCC.
Q: What if I do not have access to the internet at home?
A: Please let your faculty member know via CVCC email. The FTC has announced that some internet providers are providing free or low-cost internet to K-12, college, and university students in certain areas. Please check with the internet provider in your area if you feel that this may be an option for you.
Q: What about Clinicals, Apprenticeships, Internships and Work-Based Learning (WBL)?
A: Clinicals, apprenticeships, internships, and WBL assignments will continue this week as scheduled unless the work site restricts access.
Q: What about Continuing Education and Community Classes?
A: Continuing Education and Community classes are also canceled this week. This includes on-campus and off-campus classes. These instances will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Q: Are services available, such as the Learning Assistance Center (LAC) open?
A: Learning Assistance Center is closed – E-Help is available and can be found in the links below.

Q: How do I communicate with my instructor?
A: Communicate with your instructors though CVCC email. If you are currently enrolled in online or hybrid courses, you may contact your instructor through Blackboard (BB).
Q: Are the Dental Clinic and/or the Cosmetology Center open?
A: The Dental Clinic and the Cosmetology Center will suspend operations for the week of March 16-22.
Q: Can I come to campus to collect items that I may need?
A: Yes. Please make arrangement to come by campus Monday through Wednesday to collect any personal items that you may have in lockers, etc.
