Checks should be made payable to “CVCC Foundation” with a note in the memo section specifying which area of campus or program to support. Checks with no reference or notation will automatically be designated for our Red Hawk Fund.

Gifts of stocks or securities may give added tax benefits to the donor, as well as support the mission of CVCC. Donating any type of security is most easily completed via electronic transfer** between the broker-dealer and Foundation. ** Please have your broker note your name on the transaction so we may recognize and record your gift appropriately.

Gifts-in-kind are donations of tangible personal property other than cash such as special library collections, tools, vehicles, laboratory equipment, artwork, furnishings and machinery. A gift must be related to the stated need of at least one or more areas of the institution. Prior to donating, please contact Jennifer Jones at (828) 327-7000 ext. 4288 to discuss options.

Real Estate and fifts of homes, commercial buildings, farms, undeveloped land and other real property can be given outright to the Foundation, but require prior approval from the Foundation Board of Directors. For information, please contact Jennifer Jones at (828) 327-7000 ext. 4288.

Although outright gifts provide vital resources for CVCC today, deferred or planned gifts (bequests, wills and trusts) help insure CVCC’s future – and provide potentially advantageous tax benefits for the donor. Giving through estate plans may be particularly suitable for individuals who would like to provide significant support for the CVCC Foundation following their lifetime.

The following language is an example of how a bequest to benefit the Foundation may be worded within your will:

“I hereby give, devise and bequeath (____ $Dollars, OR Description of property, OR ____ percentage of Estate) to the Catawba Valley Community College Foundation, Inc.; a qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located at 2550 Highway 70 SE, Hickory, North Carolina 28602, Federal Tax ID 58-1598131, for the CVCC Foundation’s (general use and purpose OR specific purpose).”
