The CVCC School of Health and Public Services exceeds your traditional learning environment. Our diverse programs are housed in several facilities across the county, so you will receive a dynamic education and build a professional network with experienced instructors and dedicated classmates.

The Catawba Valley Community College School of Health and Public Services provides a comprehensive program that offers associate degrees, certificates, and training in an array of disciplines and occupational interest to the Health and Public Services community. In addition, technical pre-service and in-service advanced training is provided in a number of areas.

Associate degrees available include, Emergency Medical Science, Fire Protection Technology, Criminal Justice, and Criminal Justice-Forensic Science, and Emergency Management. A diploma is offered for Cosmetology. Certificates are offered for Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) and in a range of criminal justice themes. Continuing education and in-service public services instruction is also provided in the areas of emergency medical training, law enforcement, fire, and rescue.

The Catawba Valley Community College’s Basic Law Enforcement Training Certificate Program is designed, developed, monitored, and constantly updated by the Criminal Justice Training and Standards Division of the North Carolina Department of Justice. Minimum time for completion is approximately six months. Classes meet during weekdays.

Forensic Science is a concentration under the curriculum of Criminal Justice Technology, which focuses on the application of the physical, biomedical, and social sciences to the analysis and evaluation of physical evidence, human testimony and criminal suspects.
