If you’re passionate about forensic investigation and the tole of physical evidence in the criminal justice system, CVCC’s Criminal Justice Technology with a concentration in forensic science will help you build a solid foundation in this [adjective] field.

When you study Criminal Justice Technology Forensic Science at CVCC, you’ll explore the physical, biomedical, and social sciences used in the analysis and evaluation of physical evidence, human testimony, and criminal suspects. You will learn both theory and hands-on analysis of latent evidence. They will learn fingerprint classification, identification, and chemical development. Students will record, cast, and recognize footwear and tire-tracks; and process crime scenes. You’ll also explore the use of computers and design programs in crime scene technology.

Students will have access to cutting-edge resources and hands-on experiences, developing the skills necessary to analyze and interpret evidence in real-world criminal investigations. The curriculum will prepare you for careers in law enforcement, corrections, and other criminal justice-related fields.

Graduates will be well-prepared for roles in criminal justice organizations, including local, state, and federal law enforcement, corrections, and security agencies. Career opportunities include crime scene investigator, forensic technician, evidence specialist, and more.

Comprehensive Articulation Agreement

The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) allows a student who earns the Associate degree with no grade lower than a “C” to be guaranteed admission to at least one of the UNC system schools as a Junior ;and make a smooth transition for maximum credit transfer.

Some Associate in Applied Science degrees may transfer in full or in part to a four-year school. CVCC has agreements with certain schools to accept the AAS degree in a 2 + 2 arrangement (subject to change).

  • As always, it is imperative that a student at CVCC should be in full conversation with the senior school before selecting and completing a program of study at CVCC.
