Personal Enrichment at Catawba Valley Community College
Learn the fundamentals of American Sign Language while gaining insight into Deaf culture and communication. This class introduces basic signs, everyday phrases, and conversational skills.
Does the sound of an airplane draw your eyes to the sky? If you’ve always been a little “plane” crazy and have wondered what it would be like to become an aircraft mechanic, this class is for you! With a critical 20% shortage of aircraft mechanics, an estimated 25,000 job openings are projected by 2028. Learn about the education requirements to become a licensed airframe and powerplant mechanic.
Discover the differences in working for general aviation, military aviation, commercial passenger and cargo aviation, and corporate aviation. Compare earning potential for jobs within the aviation maintenance field. Review the most valuable qualities of an aircraft mechanic to establish success as in the vocation. Learn the fundamentals of shaping and creating with clay. This hands-on class introduces techniques such as hand-building and glazing to create functional and decorative pieces.
