Attendance Policy
One-hundred percent attendance is encouraged. A student can miss up to a maximum of sixteen (16) hour of class. Missed theory, lab, and clinical experiences must be made up. Pre-scheduled make-up labs are offered for four hours on Fridays for $60 per lab session. Students may only miss a total of eight (8) hours of clinical. The first four (4) hours missed in clinical will be made up by written reports. The remaining hours, will be made up in the clinical setting with an instructor with a charge to the student of $60.00 for each make-up clinical attended. The student may also be assigned other activities to make-up for the missed clinical experience. A student missing more than eight (16) hours in theory, lab, and clinical combined will be dismissed from the program due to inability to meet the attendance requirements for the program.

Vaccinations
Required to be completed at least three (3) weeks before the clinical rotation begins. Vaccinations are required by the clinical facilities, not CVCC.
Students are required by clinical sites to obtain certain vaccinations, a background screen and drug test before being allowed to attend clinical rotations at their facilities.
Students must provide vaccination records as proof of the required vaccinations. Vaccination records may be obtained from the primary care physician, county health department, county school systems office or possibly the parents. If the vaccination record is unavailable, the Hepatitis B, titer results may be submitted. If the student has never received the required vaccination, the vaccination must be obtained and proof submitted or the student refusing the vaccination must sign a waiver of declination. Students who decline vaccinations required by clinical sites may be refused entry thus eliminating student’s ability to advance through the program.
Below is a list of required vaccinations and known prices at different providing agencies as of November 18, 2020. The influenza vaccination is only required during the flu season. Flu season is considered to be October 1 thru March 31.

The health department does not do titers. Students may ask their doctor’s office about titers and costs.
Background Screens and Drug Tests
Background screens and drug tests are not required by CVCC, but may be required by the clinical facilities. Background and drug screens are provided through test via CastleBranch. These fees are payable online via CastleBranch.

If a background screen or drug test is required the CNA instructor will provide students with the CastleBranch login information to order their background screen and drug tests. CastleBranch will perform the background check. Students will receive an email from Lab Corp providing their drug screen registration form. Please make sure to check any junk email or spam folders, if the email is not received in the regular email inbox. Students should print the form, call Lab Corp for an appointment, and take the form with them to the appointment.

Final program total costs are approximated to be $1,019.50. The final costs could be more if they chose to purchase more than one uniform, a more expensive watch, blood pressure cuff and stethoscope, or need to make up labs and/or clinical absences.

CNA 2 Program Costs
Please note: If a student needs accommodations due to a disability, they should contact CVCC at least three (3) weeks before the class begins as some accommodation take time to arrange. Attendance Policy
Students are expected to attend all classes, labs, and clinical experiences. The North Carolina Board of Nursing, in Raleigh, governs the attendance policies for CNA II programs throughout the state; therefore, this program does not follow the CVCC attendance guidelines. To participate in clinical, students must complete all requirements of the class and lab sections. To complete the CNA II training program, students must complete all the requirements outlined in the course and attend a minimum of 180 hours of theory, lab procedures and clinical instruction. Attending another CNA class to obtain required program hours is not permissible.
Notice: Students enrolled in the CNA II program may miss a total of 10 program hours.
Notice: Students will be automatically terminated from the program if all make-up assignments are not completed. There are no exceptions.
