The Office of Student Equity & Engagement Was There For Me
"Catawba Valley Community College has been good to me, more specifically The Office of Student Equity & Engagement (OSEE). When I first attended CVCC, I mainly focused on my courses and their assignments and assessments. It was not until I discovered the OSEE that I found an important relationship beyond the classroom. Everyone was kind and helpful, especially the Executive Director. As cliché as it may sound, the people of the OSEE made me feel at home. After graduating with my Associates in Arts in spring of 2014, I attended Appalachian State University. Regardless of where I attended college, the OSEE was always willing to lend a helping hand. I joined ASU’s Hmong Society Club. Each year, our club hosts an annual Harvest Festival promoting Hmong culture. Even though I was a CVCC graduate now working hard at ASU, Mr. Hunt supported me by providing Hmong artifacts from the Office and by attending our events. I also still volunteer for, and attend, OSEE cultural celebrations events. I love the relationship that the OSEE and I have built. The Office of Student Equity & Engagement has truly been an important part of my life and educational journey."
